Privacy Policy

FourCube · Last updated May 26, 2026

We built FourCube to be private by default. No accounts. No tracking pixels. No analytics SDKs. Your city, your data, your device — that's the deal.

Plain-English Summary

  • No login required. We don't ask for your name, email, or password.
  • Location stays on-device. When you allow GPS, we use it once to pick a city. We never send your precise coordinates to our servers.
  • Push notifications are opt-in. Off by default. You can disable them in Profile anytime.
  • No advertising, no profile selling. We don't run ads. We don't sell anything to anyone.

What we store on your device

FourCube uses your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences. This data never leaves your phone and you can clear it at any time via your browser settings.

  • Active city + pincode (so the app loads where you live)
  • Last-opened cube (so you land back where you left off)
  • Recently viewed places & helplines (so they're one tap away)
  • Auto-detect-city preference (on/off toggle)
  • Whether you've seen the welcome splash

Location data

If you tap "allow" when your browser asks for location:

  • Your latitude/longitude is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim (open-source) to reverse-geocode into a city name (e.g., "Mumbai").
  • Only the resolved city slug (e.g., "mumbai") is saved on your device. Your raw coordinates are never stored or transmitted to our servers.
  • Location is requested at most once every 24 hours.
  • You can disable auto-detect anytime in Profile → "Auto-detect city".

Some live features (transit nearby, hospitals nearby) also use your coordinates — only at the moment you tap that feature, and only to query the relevant public API (HERE, OpenStreetMap). Coordinates are not retained.

Push notifications

Notifications are off by default. If you tap "Enable" in Profile:

  • Your browser generates an anonymous subscription token (a long URL that lets push services route a message to your device).
  • We store that token + your selected city on our backend so we can send timely alerts: monsoon flooding, AQI spikes (≥150 US AQI), major civic disruptions.
  • We do not store your name, email, IP address, or browser fingerprint alongside it.
  • You can disable notifications anytime in Profile or in your browser settings. Unsubscribing removes the token from our backend.

Third-party services we query

FourCube is a mash-up of public city data. Your requests to the FourCube backend are forwarded (anonymously) to these providers as needed:

  • OpenWeather — temperature, weather, rain.
  • Open-Meteo — air-quality index (AQI).
  • HERE Maps — nearby transit stations.
  • OpenStreetMap Overpass / Nominatim — POIs (pharmacies, ATMs, toilets, fuel) and reverse geocoding.
  • Mapbox — dark-mode map tiles.
  • OpenRouter (Claude Sonnet 4.5) — only when you message the AI Assistant. Conversation IDs are anonymous; messages are sent to Anthropic via OpenRouter. We don't tie them to a person.
  • Event platforms (BookMyShow, Insider, Ticketmaster, Songkick, Eventbrite, Sistic, Klook, Yelp, OpenTable, Zomato, Chope) — only when you tap an event card. Those open as external links; their own privacy policies apply.

Cookies & trackers

None. FourCube does not set any cookies. We do not embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or any similar tracker. We do not run advertising.

Children's privacy

FourCube does not knowingly collect any personal data, from anyone of any age. The app is suitable for general audiences.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA / DPDPA)

Because we don't collect personal data, there's almost nothing to request. But if you've opted into push notifications and want your subscription token deleted, simply tap "Disable" in Profile, or email us at the address below and we'll remove it from our database within 7 days.

You may also clear all FourCube data instantly by opening your browser settings → Site data → fourcube.app → Clear.

Data portability (GDPR Art. 20)
Exports everything FourCube stores about you (it's all on this device). No server round-trip.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we'll bump the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes (e.g., a new data source) will be surfaced via an in-app banner on Profile. By continuing to use FourCube after a change, you accept the new terms.
